McKinnon on the Bay is located in a quiet area of Shaws Bay, a 500 metrewalk to the beach and Ballina surf club, and a short drive to Ballina central were you will find all your requirements such as retail shopping, cinemas, clubs and activities.
Shaws Bay itself is a great-protected location for swimming, stand up paddle-boarding, snorkelling and wading with the kids. There is a maze of paths to explore around the bay, out the wall, along the beaches and river and into Ballina. If you are into fishing, there are plenty of opportunities for that too.
This home has all you need for a relaxing holiday. Three bedrooms, one full bathroom and a second toilet and shower, kitchen and large outdoor undercover area to enjoy family Bbq's. When it gets too hot, enjoy the air-conditioned family space. We are pet friendly so bring your pooch.

Lovely summer stay

Ballina beach stay
Jackie C - 11th November 2024My rental accommodation, celebrating my son's 30th Birthday was everything that I had hoped for and more, lovely & spacious, comfortable beds, lovely outdoor space, the added bonus of a second toilet & shower. Every thing was as described and delighted to find a few unexpected additions, like hand wash, cleaning spray, glad wrap, alfoil, ample toilet paper etc. The address was easy to find and instructions to getting in to the house were clear. Absolutely loved how close it was to be beach. ☺️

Lovely accommodation close to the beach

Enjoyable Stay
Alexander L - 16th February 2024A clean townhouse that had everything in order (except for a clothes drier). Air con was great and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen had all the utensils apart from garbage liners which were not supplied. Our German Shepherd Dog had plenty of secured outside space and really enjoyed the coastal walks which were about five minutes away by foot. A leash free area was also 15 minutes away by foot. In all, a great holiday.

Lynnette I - 20th November 2023We had a lovely stay at McKinnon on the Bay, we found the place was nice and clean and fresh linen, everything was there that we needed, the lounges were a little bit low and uncomfortable but overall we enjoyed staying there and would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone, also the location was great.

Belinda H - 27th October 2023Had a great stay in East Ballina. Ex-locals visiting for a wedding, great location, comfortable well-equipped house, perfect for our needs - 5 adults and a baby. Large comfortable bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and large indoor and outdoor living spaces were very handy. Communicative hosts - quick acceptance of booking and clear timely instructions. Close to beaches and river, town centre close by - short drive or moderate scenic walk. Driveway and easy street parking. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for having us!

Beach holiday
Coral Montiford - 21st September 2023This is great location a hidden gem couple of houses up cross the road you are at the beach. Lovely walks along concrete path walk out and watch the dolphins swimming. Then it came to sleeping unfortunately my husband left early as the bed is like a rock and the other bed to soft arch in your back. So the sleep put a damper on our holiday due to the beds. Very clean and tidy great courtyard The mattresses did look new.

The self check in & check out was very easy. The undercover area was a great place for our fur babies to stay dry in their tent. Overall our stay was very enjoyable. We would recommend McKinnon on the Bay to anyone visiting Ballina & especially those who travel with a pet
Peaceful long weekend
Karen - 17th March 2023We stayed at McKinnon by the Bay for a long weekend in February. We found the place to be clean, comfortable and within easy access to everything we needed. The bonus for us was that it is pet friendly. There was 2 off leash dog areas one was a park near the townhouse the other was on the Ballina side of the bridge on the water although we did go to Lennox for a really good off leash beach called 7 mile beach there was surf and sand for our dog to really enjoy. The townhouse was clean and very quiet which was really nice for a relaxing break.
Good locatiom
Diane McClintock - 31st December 2022Only negative was the bunk type beds in the third bedroom. We had an adult sleeping in the bed and he couldn't sleep on the bed because the springs had gone. I think the beds need replacing. Hopefully that will be doe for next year.
